the ultimate vintage wedding dress

[thanks for sharing 2000 Dollar Budget Bride]

This lucky lady picked up this divine wedding dress for... $5!!! From a used clothing warehouse that sells clothes by the POUND.

Amazing huh.

What an incredible dress. I'm equally as impressed by the fact that it FIT her too!

a bluebird bride tweets

As quite a few of you have already discovered, I'm on Twitter!

All I had to do was join up and I started getting followers. NUTS! Twitter is still rather new here in Australia. I hear it's MASSIVE in the US. We're can be a little slow to catch on down here. I wonder what's going to be big after Twitter. Hm.

Anyway, you can follow me and my tweets here.

Or... as the ever to-the-point Offbeat Bride put it "How to not get screwed by your florist" hahaha.

Great article here by a wedding florist who got married... about how to deal with your wedding florist.

I live right around the corner from the Melbourne Wholesale Flower Markett so it's rather tempting idea to find a way to purchase flowers from there (though I don't think they sell to the general public so hmmm) and DIY it. My Mum has picked up Ikebana in recent years and become very active in the Adelaide chapter so it'd be great to get her to do some flower arangements for the wedding... though considering we're planning to have the wedding up in the Dandenong Ranges maybe that'd end up being a drag. But fingers crossed we could make it work

Any of you DIY your wedding flowers

I did have this great idea that I could get lots of flowers and have small ribbons individually wrapped around each stem, with a big wide stem around the bouquet. And then instead of that RIDICULOUS tradition of throwing your bouquet to the women at the wedding making the massive assumption that EVERY single woman wants to be married, I could instead undo the bouquet and give a flower to each of the women at the wedding, as my way of honouring them in my life. What do you think?

woops, where did the time go?

time by in touch.
Has it really been almost a month since I last posted? That's frightening because that means it has been almost a month since I have had any time to think any real kind of wedding thoughts and things do not seem to be slowing down.

How DO people do it? I'm run ragged working full time, we barely manage to keep up with getting household things done let alone plan the biggest party of our lives.

It's been an eventful month though, some might say traumatic. I have been:
  • struggling to keep my head above water, or rather trying not to DROWN in emails at work
  • found out I have to have day surgery to get two cysts removed. Hopefully nothing too major, both are benign, but seeing the only surgery I have ever had was to get my wisdom teeth removed, it's a little scary but better out than in I suppose
  • tried to decompress on a long weekend road trip from Sydney to Melbourne. Wish we'd had more time!
  • lost my faithful companion kitty cat of 6 years - just trying to find out what happened to him was quite a journey in itself
So many of my friends are run off their feets at the moment and getting sick as well. I'm doing my best to fight bugs off that come my way but I can feel my getting more tired. I just need a good long holiday.

Anyway, my plan, in theory, is to get ON TOP of everything by the end of this month so... come April... exactly a year from when we hope to have our wedding, we can head up to The Dandenong Ranges and check out potential ceremony and reception venues and see what that wonderful part of the world looks like at that time of year!

Turns out work is going to continue to be completely hellish through to next month, but damn it, I'm going to MAKE TIME.
